What's My First Manageable Step?
Where do I start?
Any type of case involves requires organization, common sense, patience, knowledge and a sharp focus. Every lawyer should offer these skills. However, the first thing you need to do is meet with a lawyer. You need to see the person. Are you comfortable with him or her? Did he or she listen to you? Do you feel he or she understands what you want?
What happens when you first call the office?
Interested persons call my office (856-988-5884) for a brief telephone conversation in which we discuss the basic issues.
How long is the initial consultation?
These meetings usually take between one and two hours.
What information will be discussed at the initial consultation?
The purpose of the meeting is for me to obtain the necessary background facts.
We start by requesting basic biographical information, such as names, addresses and birth dates. We discuss your income and earning history and your spouse's income and earning history.
Then we focus on your questions and make sure you have an understanding of the process.
What information do you receive at the initial consultation?
We explain the procedure for filing for divorce (or answering a divorce complaint that your spouse may have filed). We will discuss the process so you will know what to expect.
